Brazil is a world reference in the field of organ, tissue and cell transplantation, the national transplantation system was created to have greater control and organization for the process. Transplantation of organs, tissues and cells can only be performed by healthcare facilities. Individuals in need of a transplant are registered in a single list of recipients, being submitted to evaluations to verify the conditions of receiving the organ and which is the most apt/compatible with the available donor. This study aims to analyze and describe mortality on the organ transplant waiting list in pediatrics and adults in Brazil, focusing on the state of São Paulo. This is a scope review where the articles were selected from the databases, Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences (LILACS), and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO). The results found were based on the construction of tables and graphs, comparing the mortality of patients on the waiting list for kidney transplantation. Mortality data were extracted and analyzed through the Brazilian Registry of Transplants (RBT) from January 2017 to December 2021. Therefore, it is concluded that the state of São Paulo has the highest number of adult admissions compared to the entire Brazil, however, when it comes to pediatric patients, there is a great variation, with not many pediatric admissions in the state of São Paulo. Regarding mortality in the state of São Paulo, both adults and pediatricians have a low mortality rate, compared to the entire Brazilian territory.
