This study investigates the influence of environmental legislation on the preservation of Amazonian rivers in the State of Amazonas, considering its relevance to the ecosystem and the urgent need for effective conservation policies. The research aims to examine current environmental regulations, identify critical obstacles to their enforcement, and assess the outcomes achieved to date. The adopted methodology included a literature review of academic publications, government reports, and relevant legal documents. The results highlight the central role of environmental legislation in establishing guidelines for the conservation, sustainable use, and restoration of Amazonian rivers, aiming to protect biodiversity, ensure water quality, and regulate activities that impact river ecosystems. However, significant limitations were identified, including insufficient resources for effective oversight and monitoring, a shortage of qualified personnel, and limited investment in environmental control infrastructure. Additionally, intensive economic activities, such as mining, agriculture, and logging, pose ongoing challenges to river preservation. The analysis points to the need to strengthen the implementation and monitoring of environmental policies, as well as to foster a collaborative approach involving government agencies, civil society, and local communities. In conclusion, environmental legislation is fundamental to the conservation of Amazonian rivers in Amazonas; however, urgent improvements in its execution and monitoring are essential to address socio-environmental challenges and ensure water sustainability in the region.
