In this structural context, there is the reception of the sick in the ICU, which is characterized through a profile normally of advanced age, associated with comorbidities, with several changes, among them, blood gas changes. With that, the nurse is responsible for the execution of this process, because it is understood as a professional endowed with technical-scientific for the application, specific care. To present what is present in the care practice regarding the role of nurses in the interpretation of blood gas values made through the collection of arterial blood gas analysis in critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit. This is a descriptive, analytical, qualitative research. The collection will be carried out through a Google Forms electronic form with the use of a self-authored form. Previously, the consent form will be made available on Google Forms and a link that will lead nurses to a form. Assistance in the interpretation of blood gas analysis is still ineffective from the point of view of the nurse, in this sense, from the collection of data, the development of the research, it is expected to bring to the literature a greater scientific basis, which will provide patients with benefits in relation to the correct reading of arterial blood gases and adequate treatment of the patient.
