The main objective of this research is to discuss how the area of the territory has been used in the implementation of public policies. To achieve this goal, readings and reflections were carried out on the proposed theme, seeking authors such as Azevedo (2003), Haesbaert (2004), Raffestin (1993), Rua (1998), Saquet (2011), Souza (2006), among others. The discussions that we propose are based on the assumption that the adoption of a territorial cut by public policies was mainly due to the changes that were taking place at national and international level, in which the State starts to recognize the new dynamics present in the space and the need to incorporate and re-evaluate government instruments.
